TaketheFight’s newest 60sec video: “INSPIRE.” Our patients and their families are our inspiration. The doctors & nurses who spend countless hours. And our college students who dedicate themselves 1on1 with individual patients & families, unlike any other organization in the world. To all of those fighting cancer, you’re our inspiration. #itsnotacharity #itsanarmy

People constantly ask what we ‘do’ for our patients. It’s frequently difficult to describe, because essentially they are asking, What exactly does a family caregiver do? A better question is, what don’t we do. As we speak, 5 of our students are packing their overnight bags. Each of them will be spending one of the next five nights beside one of our leukemia inpatients, to allow his wife to go home & rest in her own bed. 1 special patient & family + 5 special college…
Every patient has a role to play in getting well, and it starts with BELIEVING that it’s possible. Our students work 1-on-1 with patients to fight smarter and live longer. But it all starts with BELIEVING. We believe in you.
Yesterday, on Easter Sunday, Austin Rees, a senior, and the Melanoma Division held a Division Meeting to discuss their patients collaboratively with other Strategists. Working together unlike any other organization before, our team of elite college students continues to problem solve for their patients, provide unparalleled touch points for support, and direct them to the right resources. All from a nonprofit, driven by passionate young people. Healthcare will never be the same.
Behind the scenes, our team is evolving a custom system for our outpatient collaboration, to provide even further support for our patients. Working with college students, undoubtedly one of the most technologically advanced demographics, provides us the unique opportunity to implement a technology-driven program. Details to follow.
Congratulations to Debbie at our Wake Forest chapter, who completed 6 weeks for radiation yesterday! To her immediate left is Bridget, her TaketheFight strategist, a leading college student fighting 1on1 alongside her. Coming to a cancer center near you this Fall. #noonefightsalone #celebratethejourney
“When you’re going through hell… keep going.” — Winston Churchill Our Wake Forest chapter is accepting our final patients this month for the semester. To work with one of our leading Wake Forest students in your journey through cancer, email us! Our very own, Lawson McDonald, Client Affairs Coordinator for our Wake Forest chapter, was selected as one of only 5 undergrads in the world to be chosen to participate in the St. Gallen International Breast Cancer Conference this week in Switzerland, which includes over 4,000 cancer experts from around the world. We are elated for Lawson, and we’re proud to have world-leading college students like him on our team, as we change the way cancer patients approach their fight for decades to come.
